I came across a good resource on construction equipment and the site is known as Ritchiewiki.com. sounds like “Richie Rich” but not at all as the collection is very comprehensive with a large collection of articles on heavy equipment.

Excavators in Action

November 7th, 2008

This is an excavator in action, excavating a one level basement. The temporary retaining wall is made up of sheet piles, which is installed by a second excavator ( the one on a higher level) as it is modified with a vibratory clamp to install sheet piles.

Here is photo taken.

The lower excavator is the one excavating. The basement is part of a hotel complex. As the basement is only one level, temporary sheetpiles walls are used without any bracing.
